TONG FONG

 

TONG FONG is a concerted effort by musician to identify the Hong Kong Condition in 2016. This was long before the uprising of 2019. Hong Kong then was all calm and always a business like place of work with a occasion clash with the health authorities and police.

TONG FONG is a transliteration of the Cantonese expression of partitioned living spaces for rent. Originally curated by SOO WAI CHEONG former Oddfellows drummer, it was however, later produced by CHENG KEI HO to enable a logical conclusion.

Inspiration of the music was drawn from the tramps and ambient noise in the streets to the quietness in one of their nearby islands.

 The project was originally meant to be a vinyl release with a picture book but could not materialize owing to budget and difficulty to mix and re-recording of parts.

 Tong Fong is a mixture of Jazz, rock and wind instruments.
