Dysphoria couldn't make up what genre they belonged to but put their first album out without much thought. Consisting of 3 lads and 2 babes as the picture suggest, they wanted anonymity. Picture was taken somewhere in Nee Soon (probably closer to the old Chong Pang Village). Released in May 2019 even before the COVID pandemic, the picture somewhat foretold what the world was about to face.
The band in this album insisted on distortion as a central theme to the sonic experience and did not have fixed instruments that each band member played. Guitars, keyboards and wind instruments were faithfully multilayered over each other to form a thick blend of distortion in their words "like an oatmeal blend"
The album is greeted with ENERGETIC DISCOURSE which is a blast of distorted tone all in hope to develop a unified meaning.
AUTUMN JETS was meant to mimic the sound of Singapore's National Day annual display of fire power in the air ironically mirroring the Japanese occupation. The spokesperson of the band who did not want to be named said they were happy that they could achieve an emotional response somewhere between "grandeur to uncertainty to threat" thereby synthesizing how a typical Singaporean feels.
